Giovani Dos Santos: I'd love to face Brazil
Giovani dos Santos of Barcelona is in line for his second full Mexican cap at the age of just 18, the young forward being set to face Brazil. He sees this as the ideal chance to test just how far he's come...
Barcelona starlet Giovani dos Santos could make his second international appearance in tomorrow's international friendly between Mexico and Brazil - and he can't wait.
The 18 year old has already received one full cap for his country, but failed to show the spark that he is capable of.
He played against Panama on September 9th, but blamed the pitch and weather for his lacklustre showing, saying, "I was sad. It wasn't how I pictured my debut going, on account of the conditions.
He knows that the Brazilian game will be all the tougher, but didn't mind at all, saying, "Now, what better test for me than Brazil?"
Giovani added that he was looking forward to an "exciting" game - and one in "good conditions."
Mexico coach Hugo Sanchez is set to use dos Santos in this clash as one half of his two-pronged, young attack.
"They [Brazil] have Kaka and Ronaldinho, but Mexico has Giovani and [Carlos] Vela," he said, signalling his intention to team young dos Santos up with Vela, another 18 year old, who is on loan at Osasuna.
Giovani recently made his Liga debut for the blaugrana, helping his team to a 3-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao at the Nou Camp, having impressed greatly in pre-season and in international youth competition.
Vela, meanwhile, already has a full season of first-team football under his belt, having played 31 Segunda games for Salamanca last season.
Brazil and Mexico face off tomorrow at the Gilette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, USA.
