Ever Banega pleased with home debut
Éver Banega was delighted to have made his home debut for Atlético de Madrid after he came on to help the team complete their convincing win over Recreativo on Saturday.
The Argentinian is on loan with "Los Colchoneros" for a year from Valencia and is adapting to his new surroundings while he tries to find his rhythm again.
Atlético have made a good start to the new campaign and Banega was delighted to have finally been able to give his new fans a glimpse of his ability this weekend.
“I am going to try and give my best. I have only just joined and I am slowly settling in at the club. Now, the most important thing is the team and for now we have started the season off well," he told reporters.
“Now, I am calm and I know that with hard work I can earn more minutes on the pitch. I like to play in front of the defence, but I will play wherever the coach tells me to.
The 4-0 victory at home to Recre saw Atlético take their tally of goals to 12 in three games at home in official competitions this season and Banega thinks that will be key.
"Regarding the team, I think that that we are very strong on at home and that is very important if we want to finish near the top," he added.
