Miguel Veloso would like to play for Manchester United
Manchester United target Miguel Veloso has expressed a desire to play for the Red Devils.
£10million-rated Miguel Veloso of Sporting Clube de Portugal is in demand from both Manchester United and Real Madrid, according to reports.
But the race for the 21-year-old's signature could be swinging United's way, if Sporting can be persuaded to sell, because of the presence at Old Trafford of some familiar faces.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was impressed by Veloso's outstanding performance for Sporting against the Red Devils in the Champions League.
And the Portugal star says that he would be happy to join compatriots Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani at Old Trafford.
He said: “Of course I would love to play for Manchester United. They are a great team and it is a dream for anyone to play in great clubs.”
Spanish champions Real Madrid would also like the versatile midfielder, who can play in defence.
However, while Sporting's president, Felipe Soares Franco, admits that Veloso is a major target for other clubs, he has vowed to fight to keep him in Lisbon.
Franco said: “There is no chance the player will leave. We are not interested in negotiating this subject because Miguel Veloso is one of our main players for this campaign.”
